About IPBases

Built for an IP practice that needed it. Then made available to yours.

We're not a startup that "discovered" the trademark vertical. IPBases started as the internal system for a working IP practice in the Levant, where the founders saw their associates spending evenings chasing renewal deadlines on shared spreadsheets.

The origin story.

In 2023, a partner at a Levant-region IP firm told us: "I have eight associates. They handle close to two thousand trademarks. We track everything in three Excel spreadsheets and a shared Outlook calendar. Last month we missed a renewal deadline because the associate handling it was on vacation and nobody knew."

That's how IPBases started. Not as a SaaS product chasing a market — as a tool for one specific firm to stop missing renewals. The first version did three things: track trademarks, send renewal reminders, generate invoices. It worked. The firm asked for more.

Three years and dozens of feature releases later, IPBases handles the full workflow: associate routing, history-respecting bill-to, encrypted file storage, audit logging, role-based permissions. Everything a working IP practice actually needs.

In 2025, we made it commercially available. We talk to law firms every week — in Dubai, Riyadh, Beirut, Cairo, Amman — and the same patterns keep coming up. The tools that exist are either generic CRM with trademark fields bolted on, or expensive legacy products built for US/EU patent firms that don't understand how MENA practices actually bill. We built for the gap.

What we believe

A few principles, applied stubbornly.

Self-hosted is the only honest model

If a vendor can read your client list, your client list is at risk. Period. We removed ourselves from the data path on purpose, and we're not adding ourselves back.

Perpetual licenses respect the customer

SaaS revenue feels great until you realize you've paid more for software than the software is worth. We sell tools, not subscriptions to keep using tools we already gave you.

Done beats clever

Every feature in IPBases solves a real problem a real firm actually has. We don't ship "vision" features to win demos. We ship things customers asked for, that we built and tested.

Documentation is a product feature

Every release ships with installation guide, migration notes, and rollback steps. We won't make you read source code to understand what changed.

We answer our own emails

You won't be ticketed and queued. Founders read every customer email. If your install is broken, we'll be the ones diagnosing it. That's not "doesn't scale" — that's "the right size."

Boring infrastructure, on purpose

Standard PHP 8 and MySQL. No Docker, no Node.js, no Redis. We picked the stack that runs on every cPanel host and ages gracefully. Your IT team already knows how to back it up.

Who's behind IPBases

A small team, working in the open.

IPBases is built by a small founder-led team based in Ramallah, Palestine. We work directly with the law firms using the product — no sales reps, no account managers, no support tickets routed to a BPO. If you have a question about how something works, you'll be talking to the person who wrote it.

We chose this market because we know it. Several of our advisors are practicing IP attorneys in the GCC and Levant. Every release gets reviewed by people who'd be using it that week.
